The Cathedral Quarter is continuing to boom with news of three further developments in the area – including a new hotel on Dunbar Street, along with office space and apartments.
The new plans are not all just about business and visitors, as two further residential schemes in the Quarter are also on the cards.
The planned housing will be on one site next to Royal Mail’s headquarters and the other at already bustling St Anne’s Square.
It’s thought the mixed-use Dunbar Street development site includes the landmark former Arnotts fruit and vegetable business.
The final details of the project are not crystal clear as yet, as some last-minute planning and permission details are still being gone through.
The three projects are understood to be being managed by south Derry construction group PJ Conway.
It’s known for its work for Premier Inns, and built the latest £8million, 85-bedroom addition to the hotel chain in Bangor, Co Down.
The Cathedral Quarter already has a Premier Inn on Waring St – but demand for rooms in the area continues to grow, with bookings from budget hotels to luxury suites constantly high.
Conway Group construction director Kevin McGurgan said it’s an exciting time for the area and the firm can’t wait to get started.
“Within the Cathedral Quarter area of Belfast, we plan to develop a landmark mixed-use scheme which includes grade A offices, a new hotel and luxury residential apartments,” he said.
“We are also working on three major city centre sites in Belfast that will deliver high quality apartment schemes.”
Confirmation of the plans is welcome news for the Cathedral Quarter, which continues to defy all expectations and grow exponentially.
