As part of the Belfast Mela 2025, we are delighted to host the Cathedral Quarter Mini Mela  – a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity featuring music, dance, and spectacular costumes. This will include a carnival parade and pop up performances across Cathedral Quarter.

Saturday, 16 August 2025
Parade Start Time: 12.30pm
Performances: 1.30pm – 3.45pm
Locations: Hill Street, Writers Square, St Annes Square and Donegal Quay.

Parade Route

The carnival will begin at Writers’ Square and follow a designated route through the city centre, concluding at City Hall Grounds. To facilitate this, temporary traffic management and pedestrian diversions will be in place from approximately 11:30am to 1.00pm.

What to Expect
• Temporary road closures and diversions on Donegall Street from Academy Street to Waring Street between 11.30 to 1.00pm
• Temporary road closure of Hill Street between 1.30pm – 3.15pm
• Increased footfall and public activity in the area
• Noise from music and performances during the parade period and performances in public spaces
