There’s nothing like a Christmas market in Belfast to make you feel festive, is there?
A Christmas market in the Cathedral Quarter is even better – not only do you enjoy a little Christmas cheer, you can find gifts for absolutely everybody in your life while shopping local and supporting local artists and makers and small, independent retailers, venues and businesses.
Belfast Print Workshop Christmas Exhibition and Late Night Shopping
Cotton Court, 30 – 42 Waring Street
Opens Thursday 28th November, 5 – 8pm. The show stays up until Monday 23rd December.
For some, it’s Mariah’s multi-octaval All I Want For Christmas Is You jingling out of the radio, but for us, the Belfast Print Workshop‘s Annual Christmas Exhibition heralds the true beginning of the festive season.
The BPW are filling the entire third floor of Cotton Court with beautiful original prints by BPW members old and new.
With framed work ranging from £50 – £250 across a variety of printmaking techniques, the exhibition is designed to make buying artwork from local artist as simple as possible. Just choose what you love and let them bring you joy.
You are invited to join them for a celebratory opening event on Thursday November 28th with mulled wine from the hot plates and mince pies on the press. From 5pm till 8pm there will be the opportunity to meet the artists, see the studio facilities and spend time looking at the breadth of technique, skill and subject matter at play.
The show will up until Friday 20th December and viewable during regular opening hours, Monday to Friday, 10am – 5pm.
As it’s a busy time of year, the BPW folk have thoughtfully organised four late night shopping evenings in December, when they will open late until 8pm: Thursdays 5th (for Late Night Art Belfast), 12th and 19th.
The Festive Face-Free Food Fair
Oh Yeah Music Centre, 15 – 21 Gordon Street

Belfast’s only dedicated regular vegan market is back for a special festive edition, with tasty treats from all your favourite local animal-free food traders!

Get down early, we’re expecting this to be a popular one!
Golden Thread Gallery Christmas Market
84 – 94 Great Patrick Street
Thursday 5th December, 5 – 8 pm
Another fantastic event planned to coincide with the last Late-Night Art of 2019, Golden Thread hosting their unique market of beautiful work by craftspeople, artisans and makers of all kinds.
Stalls include ceramics, photography, candles, plants and books, along with our very own stall with wonderful gifts for art-lovers. There will be tea, coffee, soft drinks, mince pies and mulled wine available free to stallholders and all of our visitors on the night.
They’ll also be raising money for local charities with some special performance art, and proudly hosting a donation bin for the Homeless Period.
Black Santa’s Night Time Bazaar
Belfast Cathedral, Donegal Street
Saturday 14th December, 5 – 10pm
With over 100 stalls of local traders, with a strong focus on sustainable, planet-friendly products, Little Fox Events’ Black Santa Night Time Bazaar is an unmissable event if you’re looking for ethical, handmade and original gifts for your loved ones this year.
Expect art, craft and vintage stalls, food, treats, beverages in an incredible, family-friendly event that literally could be a one-stop shop for your Christmas presents this year. There will be live music, DJs, drinks and hot food, so an excellent way to round off your Christmas party if you’re in Belfast!
It’s also a wonderful way to herald the beginning of the Dean’s annual Black Santa sit-out, which begins the following Monday 16th December.
Belfast Flea Christmas Market
The Sunflower Bar, 65 Union Street
Sunday 22nd December, 2 – 8pm
The Belfast Flea gets Christmassy with visiting DJs, live music, Christmas movies, Christmas pizzas, mulled wine and mince pies!
So you’ve finished your Christmas shopping and it’s time to wind down, have a bit of Christmas craic ahead of the big day and maybe buy something for yourself for a change!
Alternatively – you are in level 10 panic mode and need presents and stocking fillers, STAT!
The Belfast Flea Christmas Market has over 25 stalls packed with original, vintage, handmade and pre-loved treasures that either you or your loved ones will adore – and it won’t cost you the Earth. (Literally).
If you know of any other Christmas fairs, markets or pop-up sales happening in the Cathedral Quarter, just let us know and we’ll add them into this article. You can submit details via our events form, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
