8th Nov 2019 in Business
As Destination CQ BID enters its 4th year we look back with interest at our commitment to support businesses in Cathedral Quarter & Smithfield over the last twelve months.
Through our series of training and learning initiatives, we have engaged with over 120 businesses and over 500 people.
First Aid training is often a ‘I must get round to that’ task on an employers to do list. So far we have held 6 sold out training days. By making these sessions affordable and locally based we enable staff in the area to gain a professional certification in (QA Level 3) Emergency First Aid at Work.
As a business you can send up to two staff for a heavily subsidised fee. It’s a day long course that can make real difference!

This has been a fantastic initiative and we are delighted to have delivered real impact for businesses across Cathedral Quarter and Smithfield. These engaging sessions have not only been a great learning and upskilling experience but a chance to network in an informal and relaxed environment amongst local employers and staff.
“Great to have sessions like this on offer on our doorstep”
Our series of insight sessions around a range of topics in the Digital Marketing environment have supported our vast array of SME’s from hospitality to charity partners and professional services. These 45 min topics have been invaluable and the evaluation feedback has been great. Notable sessions have included:
- Marketing Strategy
- Social Media Platforms – Instagram
- Google Ads
- Press & publicity
- LinkedIn & Business Blogging
“As a new small business owner I found this session insightful and extremely practical”
“I can’t make it!” We total appreciate that leaving the office, shop or business for these sessions can be difficult and that’s why we have handily put them online for your convenience.
We took our lead from the positive feedback for our Lunchtime Learning sessions that there was a clear appetite to for a more in depth look at some of these topics. We have curated five bespoke 3hr workshops for businesses to avail of a more detailed 1-2-1 tuition to great reward.
A great takeaway has been the amount of businesses in the area wanting to take part and drive forward the series. E-commerce & award winning marketing industry leaders Groundswell will be rounding off this years in depth sessions with a bespoke Google Ads workshop later in the month.
The year ahead…
We are busy planning the schedule for 2020 Training & Business Support.
